Getting started with your Newline Elara Pro
Four guided sessions covering the Elara Pro's key features, from powering on through Newline Engage, wireless casting, and the everyday tools that make lessons run smoothly.
The Newline Elara Pro is the most powerful panel in the Edtex range. It runs Android natively and supports an optional Windows module, making it genuinely flexible for schools that need both environments. The Newline Engage platform gives you a full suite of collaboration and teaching tools built in.
The Elara Pro has more features than you will need in the first week. These sections focus on what matters most in the first month. Work through them in order if you are new to the panel, or jump to the section you need. Videos will be added here shortly. Contact David for hands-on support in the meantime.
Powering on and the Elara Pro home screen
The Elara Pro home screen gives you quick access to Newline Engage, your connected apps, and your input sources. This section covers powering on, signing in with your school account, and understanding the layout before your first class. It starts up quickly, so there is no need to power it on early.

What to know
- The power button is on the side or bottom edge. A short press wakes it; hold for three seconds to power off cleanly.
- Sign in with your school Google or Microsoft account to access your content and saved Engage sessions.
- The sidebar toolbar is always accessible regardless of what app you are running. Familiarise yourself with it early.
Wireless casting and device connection
The Elara Pro supports wireless casting via Newline's built-in tools as well as AirPlay, Google Cast, and Miracast, so it works with virtually any device in the school. Teachers can cast their laptop or tablet, and students can share their work from their own devices. This section covers how to connect and how to manage student sharing in the classroom.

What to know
- Wireless casting works over your school Wi-Fi. The board and devices just need to be on the same network.
- HDMI is your reliable fallback for when the network is busy. Keep a cable in the classroom.
- Student sharing can be controlled from the panel, so you decide when students can cast to the board.
Newline Engage: whiteboard and collaboration
Newline Engage is the built-in teaching platform and it goes well beyond a basic whiteboard. You can annotate over any content, run collaborative activities where students contribute from their own devices, and save or share everything at the end of a lesson. The BOUNCE activity tool lets you push tasks and questions to student screens in real time.

What to know
- Engage launches from the sidebar. You can annotate over any app without closing what you are presenting.
- BOUNCE lets you push activities to student devices without them needing to install anything. They join via a browser link.
- Save your Engage session at the end of class. Everything, including student contributions, saves to the cloud.
Everyday tools: freeze, spotlight, and the quick toolbar
These are the features that change how interactive your lessons feel. Spotlight draws student attention to one part of the board. Freeze pauses the display while you navigate privately. The Newline toolbar is customisable so your most-used tools are always one tap away, without leaving your presentation.

What to know
- Spotlight and screen blank are your best attention management tools. Use them when you need the class focused before giving instructions.
- Customise the toolbar with your most-used Engage features. Whiteboard, timer, and spotlight cover most lessons.
- Freeze from the sidebar toolbar across all apps. The class sees a paused screen while you set up the next activity.
