Getting started with your BenQ Board
Four guided sessions covering the features kaiako use every day, from first power-on through EZWrite, InstaShare, and the tools that make lessons run smoothly.
The BenQ Board runs on a clean Android-based platform with the BenQ Board apps ecosystem built in. It works well with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 and stands out for its straightforward interface. Teachers tend to find it intuitive from day one without much hand-holding.
Work through these sections in order if this is your first week with the panel. If you are returning for a specific feature, jump straight to the section you need. Videos will be added here shortly. In the meantime, contact David for hands-on support.
Powering on and the BenQ Board home screen
The BenQ Board home screen is clean and uncluttered. Your most-used apps are right there without needing to dig through menus. This section walks through powering on for the first time, signing in with your school Google or Microsoft account, and understanding what is on the home screen before your first class.

What to know
- The power button is on the bottom edge of the panel. A short press wakes it; hold for three seconds to shut down.
- Sign in with your school Google or Microsoft account to access your content and cloud-saved work.
- The home screen is customisable. Pin the apps you use most so they are always front and centre.
Wireless casting with InstaShare
InstaShare is BenQ's wireless casting app. It lets teachers and students mirror their device to the board without cables. You can cast from a laptop, tablet, or phone, and it supports Google Cast and AirPlay as well. This section covers casting your screen, letting students share their work, and when to fall back to a cable.

What to know
- InstaShare works over your school Wi-Fi. The board and your device just need to be on the same network.
- Up to four devices can cast simultaneously, useful for comparing student work side by side.
- HDMI is the most reliable fallback. Always worth having a cable to hand for when the network is under load.
EZWrite: whiteboard and annotation
EZWrite is BenQ's built-in whiteboard and annotation tool. You can use it as a full standalone whiteboard or annotate directly over any app running on the board. Notes can be saved as images or PDFs and shared via email or QR code. Students can scan the QR code at the end of a lesson to get your notes straight to their device.

What to know
- QR code sharing is one of the most practical features on the panel. Students get notes to their phones in seconds.
- Annotate over any app without closing it. Tap the annotation icon from the sidebar to get started.
- EZWrite supports multi-user touch, so multiple students can write on the board at the same time.
Everyday tools: freeze, split screen, and Eye-Care mode
These are the day-to-day features teachers reach for in most lessons. Freeze pauses the display while you navigate privately. Split screen runs two content sources side by side. Eye-Care mode reduces blue light for all-day use and is worth enabling as a default on every BenQ Board.

What to know
- Eye-Care mode is in Display Settings. Most teachers set it and forget it. Worth enabling as your default.
- Freeze works across all inputs, not just BenQ apps. Freeze an HDMI feed, a browser, or EZWrite equally.
- Split screen is especially useful for displaying student work alongside your own content at the same time.
